DELL GRADY KING
Sept. 7, 1923-June 5, 2015
Mrs. Dell Whitley Grady King, 91, longtime resident of the Pricetown community in Wayne County, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Friday morning, June 5, 2015, while being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral services will be held by the graveside Sunday, June 7, at 3 p.m. at Pineview Cemetery in Seven Springs. The Rev. Doug Johnson will officiate, with remarks being offered by Jimmy Vinson.
The family will remain at the cemetery following the service to greet relatives and friends, and at other times the family will be at the residence of Jimmy and Linda Vinson.
Mrs. King was a native of Nash County.
A retired homemaker, she had been a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack L. Grady, and her second husband, George King; a son, the Rev. Mike Grady; her parents, Eli and Maggie Smith Whitley; and a brother, Alexander Gray Whitley.
Her survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Annette G. Rouse of Seven Springs and Linda G. and Jimmy Vinson of the Pricetown community; a daughter-in-law, Hilda Grady of Goldsboro; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Mike and Carolyn King of Mount Olive; six grandchildren, David Rouse, Rod Vinson, Lisa Davis, Mike Grady Jr., Michelle Gurley and Bryan King; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betsy Whitley of Goldsboro; and a special niece, Pansy Herring of Wasilla, Alaska.
The family would like express its gratitude for the care shown to Mrs. King during her stay at Genesis Health Care in Mount Olive, especially to Ms. Dorothy, and all the other staff, as well as the staff at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Mrs. King loved to have visitors, so, in lieu of flowers, the family requests anyone wanting to honor her memory take time to visit with a shut-in or perhaps some family, and take them a special "goodie."
