Mrs. Carolyn Renai Adderton Burden, 52, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Carol," 541 U.S. 13 South, Goldsboro, N.C., departed her earthly life Thursday, May 28, 2015, at her residence.
Carolyn was born June 13, 1962, to the late Ralph Adderton and Joyce Peele-Adderton.
She was a 1980 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School in the Wayne County public school system.
Mrs. Burden was employed at O'Berry Center for more than 20 years.
She was an active member of Saint Joseph Free Will Baptist Church.
Carol's funeral service will be conducted Monday, June 1, 2015, at noon at Saint Joseph Free Will Baptist Church, 280 Claridge Nursery Road, Goldsboro, N.C. Pastor Leslie C. Capers will officiate.
Public viewings will be held Sunday, May 31, 2015, from 1 to 5 p.m. in Apostle D.L. McIntyre Memorial Parlor at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C.
And Monday, June 1, 2015, from 11 to 11:50 a.m. at Saint Joseph Free Will Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.
Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery North, 1191 Old Grantham Road, Goldsboro, N.C.
Mrs. Burden's loving and precious memories will be cherished by her husband, Ralph Burden Jr. of the home; their children, Sharonda of Greensboro, N.C., and Lonnie, Quentina and Taylor of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Elijah of Greensboro, N.C., and Amoni, Jiah'on Amon-Onyea and Jiah'mere Deh'shon of Goldsboro; her mother-in-law, Marie Simmons Burden of Goldsboro; six aunts, Helen Burden Simmons of Goldsboro, Barbara Brown of Beckley, W. Va., Cumi Adderton of Detroit, Mich., Mary Adderton of Hot Springs, Va., Phyllis Adderton of Sanford, N.C., and Meridel Adderton of Atlantic Beach, S.C.; three uncles, George Earle Biggs of Lewiston, N.C., Artis Peele (Nancy) of Clinton, Md., and Alton L. Peele (Catalina) of Washington, D.C.; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and church family.
Monday, June 1, 2015, the family members and friends will assemble one hour prior at 9:50 a.m. at 1205 N. James St., Goldsboro, N.C., in preparation for the funeral procession.
Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., beginning Sunday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
