JANET BAILEY SCOTT
July 14, 1934-April 20, 2015
Janet Bailey Scott, Goldsboro, slipped quietly away to join her husband, Jack, who had left this life all too early in 1981.
Janet was preceded by her parents, Robert Aubrey and Annie Pearl Bailey of Louisburg, N.C.
She graduated from Louisburg College, and then married Jack Scott of Goldsboro, N.C. They married in 1955, and after serving a United States Army tour in Anniston, Ala., they returned to Goldsboro where Jack, his brother, Billy, and their father owned and operated Scott Motor Co.
Surviving Janet are her sons, Jack Sterling Scott Jr., his wife, Connie, and their son, Jack Sterling Scott III, and Robert Adderson Scott, his wife, Elizabeth, and their son, Robert Adderson Scott Jr.
Also surviving are two sisters, Phyllis Whitaker and Myrna Brown and husband, Walter "B.B." Brown.
Janet was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro, and was honored in 2009 as a Presbyterian Women Life Member.
Janet enjoyed golf, bridge and gardening. Most of all, she treasured her many friends, who, along with her sons and grandsons, brought great joy to her life.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Leigh Gillis officiating.
A visitation reception will follow in McChesney Hall.
Private family entombment will be at Wayne Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1109 Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
