JAMES "JIM" WALLACE
July 25, 1936-April 6, 2015
James "Jim" Wallace passed away Monday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton, with visitation afterward.
Jim was born in Sikeston, Mo., July 25, 1936, to the late Harold and Elsie Hale Wallace.
After graduation from high school, Jim joined the United States Army in which he served 23 years and received two purple hearts.
While stationed in Paris, France, Jim attended Ecole du Cordon Bleu Culinary school, and earned the title of master chef.
He was executive chef in Las Vegas, Texas, England, Switzerland and France.
He attended the University of Maryland business school, and he received two black belts in Judo.
Jim was a member of Bethel Church in Goldsboro.
He was a lifetime member of the Disable American Veterans, and a member of the American Legion, Judo Black Belt Federation and various other organizations.
Jim is survived by his lovely wife, Susan Wallace; daughters, Sabrina, Sherry and Mary Beth Phillips of Charlotte, N.C.; sons, David of Gulfport, Miss., Tommy Laseter of Pikeville, N.C., and Brad Dearmon of Fort Bragg, N.C.; his brother, Larry Wallace of Las Vegas, Nev.; and his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by sons, Richard James III, James IV and Scott, and his sisters, Margaret Thomas and Frances Smith.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
