LOLA CORBETT CAPPS

Lola Mae Corbett Capps, 76, passed away Friday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her loving family.
Lola was born Nov. 3, 1938, in Wayne County to the late Richard Corbett and Pearline Smith Bass. She graduated from New Hope High School in 1956 as valedictorian of her class, of which she was very proud. She was married to the late Emmett Raymond Capps. She was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Lola was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives. She was well-known for canning of vegetables and jellies that she would share with family and neighbors. Mammie Lola was a great grandmother and had a personal relationship with each one that will leave a lasting impression on all of them.
A service celebrating her life will held at noon Monday, March 30, 2015, at Woods Grove P.F.W.B. Church, with the Rev. Barry Teague officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Surviving are her daughters, Carol Brogden Futrell and husband, Jerry of Dudley and Trish Capps of Saulston; sons, Ricky Capps and wife, Freida, of Saulston and Tony Capps and wife, Delana, of Cokers Mill; her grandchildren, Rebeckah Capps, Jessica Whaley, T.J. Capps, Wesley Capps, Natalie Capps, Chad Brogden and wife, Ashley, Lorenda Brogden, Anthony Brogden and wife, Betsy, Ashley Johnson Howard and husband, Tommy, Austin Johnson and fiancée, Lindsay Kornegay; great-granchildren, Jasmin Turner, Caden Moore, Tobby Jakob-Ray Best, Trey Capps, Emma Lola Capps, River Howard, Cohen Howard, Joel Brogden, Josiah Brogden and Aleea Darden; sister, Nancy Scott; and brothers, Donald Corbett, Joe Corbett and Clayton Corbett.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lola was preceded in death by her sisters, Angie Burroughs, Marie Colie and Margie Witt.
The family will receive friends Monday from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Woods Grove Church P.F.W.B. and at other times at the home of Tony and Delana Capps, 207 Waldenwoods Drive, in the Cokers Mill Community.
Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests that memorials be made to Cures for the Colors, 203 Cox Boulevard, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
