PEGGY HARRIS ALLEN

Peggy Harris Allen, 85, formerly of Goldsboro, died March 19, 2015, at Carolina Meadows in Chapel Hill.
She was born in Roanoke, Va. to the late Dallas and Louella Harris. Peggy attended public schools in Roanoke and went on to graduate from Louis-Gale Hospital School of Nursing.
In 1948, her class was sent to Dorothea Dix in Raleigh to affiliate in psychiatry.
There she met and married the love of her life, Jack Allen. They were married for 58 years before his death in 2006.
In addition, Peggy was preceded in death by a sister, Polly Harris Hall.
She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy, and son-in-law, Tom Cox; twin grandchildren, Patrick and Olivia Cox; one sister, Mary H. Climie; and numerous, much-loved extended Allen family.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton with the Rev. Jeff Allen officiating.
Interment will be beside her husband at Powhatan Church Cemetery, also in Clayton.
