Kenneth K. Coor Jr., 87, Goldsboro, went to his heavenly home Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Kenneth was born in Wayne County Sept. 9, 1927, to the late Kenneth K. Coor Sr. and Agnes Blackman Coor.
He was married 59 years to the love of his life, the late Sallie Davenport Coor.
Kenneth retired from Textilease after 46 years of dedicated service, 40 of those spent in management.
He was credited with founding the North Carolina Association of Textile Services, and received its highest award, the John C. Jones Memorial Award.
He was involved in his community as an active member of the Salvation Army and Goldsboro Kiwanis Club, and served as a board of director for Wayne Memorial Hospital.
He was also an active member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church, and served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and other areas of the church.
For many years, Kenneth taught Sunday school at Goldsboro Fire Department.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Madison Avenue Baptist Church, with Dr. Robert Fulkerson officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
He is survived by his children, Emily VerSteeg and husband, Buddy, and Sylvia Richards and husband, Scott, both of Raleigh; his brother, Deleon Coor and wife, Mollie; his grandchildren, Shasta Kidder and husband, Stephen, Charity VerSteeg, Ryan Richards and Chase Richards; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Vera Coor and Ona Bryant.
Memorials may be made to Madison Avenue Baptist Church at 300 S. Madison Ave., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 10, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
