KENNETH RAY GALES

Kenneth Ray Gales, 80, Goldsboro, passed away Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

He was the son of the late William Jasper Gales Jr. and Ruby Murphy Gales, and was the husband of Hettie Lou Williams Gales.

He was a retired North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper, a past deacon at Love Memorial Baptist Church, past president of the Wayne County Law Enforcement Association, a past board of director for Southern Wayne Country Club and was a member of the Love Memorial Handy Man Team, which provided relief to storm victims throughout the southeastern states through North Carolina Baptist Men's Disaster Relief.

A graveside service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Richard Toler officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and Crematory.

In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by a daughter, Robin Gales Hill of Goldsboro; a grandson, Jasper Ray Hill of Goldsboro; and a special four-legged companion, Minnie.

He had many nieces and nephews who adored their "Uncle Ray."

Ray also leaves behind many friends, all who were very dear, but none more than Jimmy and Lindsey Howell and Delma and Betty Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Kitty Askins Hospice Center of Goldsboro or Cures for the Colors, c/o Southeastern Medical Oncology.
