Charlie Wilbert Jernigan, 74, passed away at home Tuesday evening surrounded by his family.
He was the son of the late John and Lillie Leigh Jernigan, and was married to Carol Heath Jernigan.
Mr. Jernigan was owner and operator of his own logging company.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Willoughby and the Rev. Jimmy Millard officiating. Committal will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Jernigan is survived by his daughters, Sandra Comer and husband, Jeral, of Dudley and Elaine Jernigan of Emerald Isle; a brother, Ben Jernigan of Lumberton; a sister, Clara Bell Moody of Pink Hill; grandchildren, Freddie and Michael Ponce, Charlie Comer and wife, Sara, and Sandy Comer; and a great-grandson, Preston Wayne Comer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
