Cathy Jo Mayo, 60, Goldsboro, passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.
Cathy Jo was born in Glenville, W. Va., June 27, 1954, to Josephine Joyce Forney Sims and the late Jesse Leroy Sims.
At her request, no formal service will be held.
Cathy Jo is survived by her husband, Bobby Ray Mayo; children, Rhonda Grant and husband, Sidney, Jason Martin and wife, Chandra, Jamie Holland Michael, Johnnie Hall Sr., Sonya Jackson and husband, Loren, Deby Mayo-Wise and husband, Kevin, and Bobby Mayo and wife, Tammy; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her special sister friends, Susan Martin, Vickie Howell, Pam Burnett and Vanessa May.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bradley Leroy Sims Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the University of North Carolina Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, CB No. 7295, Chapel Hill, N.C., 27599.
