MARIA A. LEACOTT

Her beautiful spirit has gone to join the Lord. She passed suddenly at her home.
She will be missed by family and dear friends.
Born in Wurzburg, Germany, to the late Ludwig and Adelheide Schneider, she arrived in the United States at the age of 19. Proudly became a citizen. Married her soul mate, Donald H. Leacott in 1956.
A founding member of the International Wives Club at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, where she held several different offices through the years. She had been an active member since 1972.
A volunteer with the Goldsboro Soup Kitchen for 32 years, first at St. Stephen's and now at the Community Soup Kitchen of Goldsboro, Oak Street. She was awarded the volunteer of the year. She will be dearly missed by employees, volunteers and patrons.
An active member of St. Michael Archangel Catholic Community at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. She had been head usher for Saturday mass since 1979. She was an important part of the parish, and her absence will be felt by all.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Berard and husband, Gene, of Goldsboro, N.C., Donna Roberts and husband, Mike, of Rockford, Ill., and Anne Boulanger of Valleyfield, Quebec, Canada; her sister, Alma Roth of Rothenfels, Germany; her grandchildren, Christina Myers of Carrollton, Ga., Douglas Davidson, Nickolas Davidson and Bethany Davidson all of Rockford, Ill., Robert Berard of Killeen, Texas, Kyle Berard of Pittsfield, Mass., and Austin Roberts, Landon Roberts and Daylen Roberts all of Rockford, Ill; and several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, Heinz Schneider of Marktheidenfeld, Germany; two brothers-in-law, John Y. Leacott of Delran, N.J., and Hermann Roth of Rothenfels, Germany; and a sister-in-law, Grace McAuliffe of Pine Bluff, N.Y..
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at St. Michael Archangel Catholic Church at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Community Soup Kitchen of Goldsboro or the Wayne Community College Foundation will be appreciated.
