Johnny Artis, 59, 1886 Rosewood Road, Goldsboro, died Saturday in Duke University Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 9, 1954, in Wilson County to George Washington Artis and Rosa Mae Spruill.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Eastern Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. His navy blue empire casket will be placed in an authentic 1892 Cunningham horse-drawn hearse for his journey to Spruill Cemetery.
He is survived by three children, Johnny Artis Jr. and Yomiko and Sonya Artis all of Goldsboro; nine siblings; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation Friday from 2 to 7 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., at Haskins Funeral Home, Goldsboro.
At other times, the family will receive friends at 1886 Rosewood Road, Goldsboro, where it will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
