LEOLA MCDUFFIE GORDON

Mother Leola McDuffie Gordon, 83, lovingly known by family and Church friends as "Mother Gordon," 200 Clara Monte Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., departed her earthly life Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at her residence.
Leola was born in Duplin County, N.C., Oct. 14, 1930. She was born to the late Mrs. Sallie Toon McDuffie and Mr. Lonnie McDuffie Sr.
Early in life, her family moved to Goldsboro, N.C., where she received her education in the public school system of Wayne County.
In the year 1965, she moved to Long Island, N.Y.
She was employed and retired from the New York University in Farmingdale, N.Y.
In 2001, Leola and husband moved back to Goldsboro, N.C., and reunited back with Goldsboro Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. She served as a faithful member of the church's mother board.
Mother Gordon was preceded in death by her three sisters, Minnie Lee McDuffie, Iva Mae Williams and Annie McDuffie, her two brothers, Richard McDuffie Sr. and Ellis McDuffie.
Funeral service will be conducted Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Goldsboro Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 1314 Ben Brewington Court, Goldsboro, N.C. Pastor James E. Collins will officiate.
Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park South Cemetery, 2925 U.S. 117 South, Dudley, N.C.
Also, a public viewing will be held Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, in Apostle D. L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., from 2 to 6 p.m.
Mother Gordon leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to her loving, caring and devoted husband, Eddie Lee Gordon; her brother, Lonnie McDuffie Jr.; her two sisters, Alzora Young of Dudley, N.C., and Myrtle Ruth Russell of Goldsboro, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, church members, other relatives and friends.
Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, the family and friends will assemble at the residence of Mr. Eddie Gordon, 200 Clara Monte Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., at 9:45 a.m. in preparation for the funeral precession.
Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., beginning Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
