LONNIE EUGENE BISHOP

DURHAM -- Lonnie Eugene Bishop, 60, formerly of Goldsboro, departed his earthly life on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham.
Lonnie was born in Goldsboro on July 1, 1953 to the late Mrs. Gloria Jones-Bishop and Mr. Earnest Bishop.
He received his education in the Wayne County Public School System and attended Rosewood High School.
After his school years, Lonnie had a desire to serve his country by enlisting into the United States Navy. Once he was discharged from the United States Navy, Lonnie went back to school and earned a CNA certification. He worked for the Shaybee's Nursing Home.
Lonnie was a member of the Christ Memorial Church under the leadership of the late Apostle D. L. McIntyre. He later joined The Greater Cleggs Chapel Community Missionary Baptist Church and was also connected to The Jesus House of Prayer.
Funeral service will be conducted on Sunday at 11 a.m. in the Apostle D. L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George Street, Goldsboro. Pastor Thelma Davis and Pastor Diane McIntyre will officiate. Interment will follow in the Everette Family Cemetery, 4191 Old Smithfield Road, Princeton, N.C.
Also, a public viewing will be held on Saturday in the Apostle D. L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home from 2 to 6 p.m.
Mr. Bishop leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories his loving companion, Donna Mitchell and her daughter, Donjyne McCallum; his daughter, Sharonda Perry (Ernest); his sons, Lonnie Eugene Bishop Jr. and Ryan Wade; his brothers, William Earl Bishop (Jessie) and Michael Jerome Bishop (Carmen); his sisters, Carol M. Bishop Batiste and Pastor Diane Bishop McIntyre; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
On Sunday, June 29, the family and friends will assemble at McIntyre Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m. in preparation for the funeral line up.
Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
