Catherine D'Anna Gambella, 90, passed away at the Brian Center Monday, May 19, 2014.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 20, 2014, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday, May 21, 2014, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. Other times will be at the home of Giles and Vera Turnage, 411 Plantation Place in Raintree subdivision, Goldsboro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 1000 N. Jefferson Ave., with the Rev. Patrick Keane, O. S. F. S., presiding. Committal service will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, U.S. 70 West, Goldsboro.
Surviving are her children, Nicholas and Maria Gambella and Vera and Giles Turnage, all of Goldsboro and Diane and Dan Lockwood of Cary; 13 grandchildren; 16 great -grandchildren; and sisters and brothers, Lucy Caputo of New York, Louise Monaco of New Jersey, Gerald D'Anna of New Jersey and Anthony D'Anna of New York.
A native of New York, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ulysses Dominic Gambella; her parents, Anna and Antonio D'Anna; her daughter and son-in-law, Rose Ann and Michael Russo; and her siblings, Mary Sulfaro and Elvira D'Anna.
The family of Catherine Gambella would like to express its gratitude to all of those who have shown love, sympathy and compassion, as well as to the many spoken and unspoken prayers, especially Tiffany, Mark and Tyler Arnette, Carolyn Clark and Jan Settle.
Thank you to the staff of the Brian Center and Home Health and Hospice for its continuous care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to St. Mary's Catholic School.
