JOYCE VAIL LANCASTER

JOYCE VAIL LANCASTER

Jan. 21, 1927-March 31, 2014

Joyce Vail Lancaster, 87, passed peacefully into that far better life with her Lord and savior and with those beloved family who went on before while at her home surrounded by her family.

Joyce was born in Wayne County Jan. 21, 1927, to the late George and Orabelle Deans Vail. She was married to the late Charles Miller Lancaster, who preceded her in death May 19, 1999.

Joyce raised her children on the farm that she dearly loved.

She loved her vegetable garden as it always showed by the huge collards that grew there. Joyce always enjoyed sharing with others from her garden, and will be fondly remembered by her family for cooking a large meal every Sunday.

She was a member of Nahunta Home Extension Club, and had perfect attendance for 25 years.

Joyce loved life and the life she had with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. God has blessed her with all his love. She will live forever in all our hearts as a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to many.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jack Booth officiating. Interment will follow in Pikeville Cemetery.

Joyce is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Radford and husband, Eddie, of Garner and Judy Lancaster of Pikeville; sons, Gary Lancaster and wife, Margaret, of Goldsboro, Ben Lancaster of Pikeville and Charles A. Lancaster of Pikeville; grandchildren, Kevin Radford, Andrew Radford, Dana L. Best, Gary Lancaster Jr. and Judy Clark; and seven great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Loraine Butler of Clinton.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Lancaster.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Seymour Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m., and other times at her home.

The family would like to express its appreciation for the compassionate care provided by granddaughters, Dana Best and Judy Clark.

Love and heartfelt thanks are expressed also to her sitters, Trish, Joanie, Arlene, Sandy, Penny, Wanda and Ashley.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be sent to Home Health and Hospice, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
