SAMUEL JOHNSON FRENCH

Samuel Johnson French, 88, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Mr. French was born in Craven County Aug. 11, 1925, to the late Lee Johnson French and Estella Skinner French.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
He attended King's Business College in Raleigh, and had worked with Dupont.
For many years, Mr. French owned and operated Sam French's Supermarket in Mount Olive.
He attended Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate his life at 11 a.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Johnny Sasser officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. French is survived by his wife, Darlene Martin French; daughters, Diane Ipock and friend, Sam, of Cove City, Debbie Denlinger and husband, Phil, of Goldsboro and Tammie Willoughby and friend, Stuart, of Mount Olive; sister, Joyce Howell of Pollocksville; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Harrell French; daughter, Connie Warwick; sons, Samuel French Jr. and Darrell French; and grandson, Ricky French.
