Elton Ward Williams, 78, Brookwood Drive, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at 6 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends following the service.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Oak City Cemetery in Oak City.
Mr. Williams was born in Bear Grass, N.C., to the late Samuel Jasper and Carrie Dell Harrison Williams.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Margaret Ayers Williams.
He was retired from the United States Air Force and the United States Postal Service.
He was a member of Stoneybrook Christian Church in Wilson, an avid New York Yankee fan and fisherman.
He is survived by his son, Vic Williams and wife, Terry, of Yorktown, Va.; his daughter, Sandra W. Ellison and husband, James, of Goldsboro; three brothers, Earl Williams of Williamston, N.C., Leroy Bland and wife, Ann, of Plymouth, N.C., and Royce Williams and wife, Grace, of Arizona; three sisters, Dee Anderson and husband, Gary, of Texas, Faye Dennis of Florida and Joyce Caldwell of Texas; and three grandchildren, Joey Williams, Ben Williams and Megan Williams.
Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be directed to Stoneybrook Christian Church in Wilson.
