SNOW HILL -- Mrs. Frances Meeks Cunningham, 84, died Thursday morning, Nov. 7, 2013.
Born Oct. 3, 1929, she was the daughter of Ashley Moore Meeks and Melva Everett Meeks, and the widow of Roland "Bobby" Cunningham Jr.
Mrs. Cunningham worked for many years as a CNA in both the hospital and long-term care settings.
A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, some of her fondest enjoyments were the occasions spent watching her grandchildren playing baseball.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service, with pastor Rick Mondell of First Baptist Church officiating, where Mrs. Cunningham was a member. Interment will follow at Snow Hill Cemetery.
Her surviving family includes her daughters, Charlotte Cunningham Costner and husband, Sammy, of Snow Hill and Annette Cunningham of Hamstead; a son, Allen Cunningham and wife, Joyce, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Nelson Cunningham and wife, Meghan, of Pikeville, Philip Cunningham of Goldsboro and Jessica Cunningham of Goldsboro; a great-granddaughter, Nelleigh Elizabeth Cunningham; a sister, Margie Ard and husband, Nicky, of Wilmington; and a brother, Paul Meeks and wife, Brenda, of Greenville.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times, at the residence, 152 Burrellfield Road, Snow Hill.
