MARIE DANIELS TRIPP

KINSTON -- Oct. 11, our mother went peacefully, surrounded by her family, to her heavenly home.
Marie was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Pamlico County to Leon Daniels and Emma Langley Daniels.
Marie came to Kinston to live in 1934.
She worked in retail for 50 years, retiring with JCPenney Co. in 1984. She was known for her hard work and knowledge of her job by many.
She was a kind and loving person with a gentle spirit and a mother to many.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Tripp; her son-in-law, Jack Byrd; and a granddaughter, Amanda Brooke Hill.
Marie is survived by four daughters and a son, whom she loved dearly, Joyce Byrd of Kinston, Linda Taylor and husband, Raymond, of Kinston, Faye Hill and husband, Eddie, of Kinston and Judy Morris and husband, Tommy, of Silver Spring, Md.; son, Carl Tripp and wife, Beth, of Greenville; grandchildren, Jason Byrd and wife, Paige, of Kinston, Raymond Lynn Taylor and wife, Joy, of Dothan, Ala., Jared Hill, Kevin Hill and Tripp Hill of Kinston, Christie Morris, Carla Morris and Brandon Morris of Silver Spring, Md., and David Tripp and Matt Tripp of Greenville; great-grandchildren, Zack Byrd and Christian Jacobs of Kinston, Jordyn Taylor and Ashleigh Martin of Dothan, Ala., and Gracie Morris and Cole Morris of Silver Spring, Md.; and a very special friend and neighbor, Susie Grady.
The family would like to express its gratitude to 3HC and Hospice staff for the loving care shown to our mother.
Also, a special thanks to her caregiver, Penny Edgeston, who took care of our mother with love and kindness.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, and other times at the home at 2207 Rouse Road, Kinston, N.C.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Robert Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery.
