EDWARD EARL "BABY" HOLMES

Edward Earl "Baby" Holmes, 70, passed away Saturday afternoon at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Born in Duplin County, he was the son of the late Ab and Mary Owens Holmes.
He retired from Waukesha Electric Systems after 44 years of service.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lillie Newell Holmes; a son, Michael Edward Holmes and wife, Angie; a daughter, Sharon Holmes Mozingo; five grandchildren, Brandon Michael Holmes, Austin Kyle Holmes, Chase Allen Mozingo, Clay Edward Mozingo and Macy Renee Mozingo; four sisters, Dorothy Waters, Eva Brock, Lucille Winders and Haddie Brock; a brother, Lynn Holmes; four brothers-in-law, S.B. Newell, Edward Newell and wife, Joy, David Newell and special friend, Brenda, and Randy Newell and special friend, Phyllis; three sisters-in-law, Eleanor Smith and husband, David, Lois Hannum and husband, Robert, and Ann Olive and husband, Bruce; several nieces and nephews; two special foster children, Angel and Kenneth David Bradley; a special sister-in-law, Wilma Bailey; and his two special canine companions, Peanut and Rascal.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Davis, and four brothers, James "Sonny" Holmes, Durwood Holmes, Junior Holmes and Roby Jackson Holmes.
Edward enjoyed farming, working in his garden and selling produce. He could often be found drinking coffee with the "coffee club" at the Handy Mart, where Lillie worked.
