CARL G. HARDY JR.
June 21, 1929-Sept. 28, 2013
LAGRANGE -- Carl Greene Hardy Jr., 84, LaGrange, peacefully passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at his home.
Carl was born June 21, 1929, in Greene County to the late Carl Greene Hardy Sr. and Roberta Barnes Hardy.
He served his country in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean War.
Carl retired from The Noland Co. following 30 years of service. He was an important part of the family business, Hardy's Appliance and Furniture, which was established in 1960.
Carl faithfully served his Lord, and was an active member of LaGrange United Methodist Church, where he had served as a trustee and superintendent and on the building committee.
He loved meeting and talking with people.
He and his daughter, Beth, operated The Glove Outlet, a business that catered to fisherman. He cherished the many friendships made through this endeavor.
Carl was a behind-the-scenes person, never boastful and always willing to help others. He was very proud of the scholarship established by the family business to help a deserving student further his education.
Most of all, Carl cherished time spent with his family. He received great enjoyment watching his grandchildren in their different activities.
Recently, Carl traveled to Mexico for medical treatment. This brief time away lifted his spirits, and the trip turned into a vacation for him, where many special memories were made with Carl, Beth and Bailey.
A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at LaGrange United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ray Teague and the Rev. Rufus Butner officiating.
A time of visitation and fellowship will follow the service.

Hardy and Beth Hardy; 10 grandchildren, Melissa Hardy Grimes and husband, Doug, Matthew Blake Jarman, C.G. Hardy III and wife, Brandi, Paul Jarman, Christopher G.
