LAGRANGE -- Mrs. Leo Harrison Grant Bailey, 82, was escorted by angels to her heavenly home late Sunday evening, Sept. 8, 2013.
A native of Greene County, she was born Jan. 4, 1931, the daughter of Heber and Irene Elizabeth Harrison.
She was a lifelong resident of Greene County and a faithful member of Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church for more than 50 years.
An avid homemaker, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and shared her love of children by working with Myatt's Daycare for 25 years.
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Tingen officiating. Committal services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Snow Hill Cemetery.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Wilton Brooks Grant Sr. and Charles Bailey, and son-in-law, Tully Layden.
Her surviving family includes her children, Brooks Grant and wife, Patsy, of Snow Hill, Jennifer G. Vandiford and husband, Roland, of Ayden, Susan G. Tingen and husband, Gary, of Snow Hill, Patricia G. Durham and husband, Doug, of Pine Level and Sherry G. Layden of Snow Hill and fiancé, Gary Sutton; sister, Mollie Harrison Crisp of Goldsboro; brothers, Carson Harrison and wife, Doris, and Elton Harrison and wife, Mary, all of LaGrange; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home of Gary and Susan Tingen, 6208 U.S. 13 South, Snow Hill.
