EDNA PARRISH HOLMES

Edna Parrish Holmes, 79, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Edna was born in Wayne County on October 8, 1933 to the late Leroy and Alice Sasser Parrish. She retired from the Wayne County Health Department. Edna was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will always be loved by her children and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Hardy officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Edna is survived by her husband, James Holmes; children, Ronald Parrish and wife, Faye, Douglas Parrish, Jacqueline Howell, Darrell Pennington and wife, Catherine, Tyla Aycock and husband, Stephen, and Michael Holmes and wife, Beth; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Emmie Pittman, Frances Hyde, Dorothy Parrish and Elgia Parrish; and brothers, Wilton Parrish and Paul Parrish.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her previous husbands, Cecil Parrish and Hubert Pennington; stepdaughters, Cynthia Warters and Rita Daniels; brothers, Gurney Parrish and Archie Parrish; and sisters, Ellen Evans, Mildred Merritt and Carolyn Parrish.
