Donald Gene Jones Sr., 74, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Wilkerson Funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Jones, a retired master sergeant, served his country honorably in the Air Force for 26 years.
He was born to Mary Stokes Jones and Dalton Troy Jones Sr. in Greenville, N.C., Feb. 7, 1939.
Mr. Jones was a member of First Christian Church of Goldsboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mavis Jones, Judy Jones and Mary Lou Rhodes; a brother, Walton "Duke" Jones; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Jones.
Mr. Jones is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Jones; his cherished children; stepchildren; brothers; sisters; children, Donald Gene "Chuck" Jones Jr. of Youngsville, N.C., Carla Jones Ahearn and husband, Paul, and Kim Jones Shockey and husband, John, all of Greenville; stepchildren, Molly McEldowney and Patrick O'Dowd and wife, Jala, of Ohio; grandchildren, Chase and Zack Jones, Lindsi and Josh Ahearn and Mason Jones; stepgrandchildren, Caleb Shockey, Brittany Shrout, Brittany Warrick, Donavan McEldowney and Kelsey O'Dowd; three stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters, Ann French, Marjorie Humphrey, Shirley Vernelson and husband, Hilton, Helen Mills and husband, Curtis, and Sandra Harris and husband, Bobby; brothers, Troy Reid Jones, Dalton Troy Jones Jr. and wife, Lila Mae, George Edward Jones and wife, Gayle, Phillip Ray Jones and wife, Dessie, and Graham Davis Jones; and 39 nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday prior to the service from 12:30 until the funeral hour at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
