MOUNT OLIVE -- Ellis Wilkins "Jim" Britt, 78, passed away early Monday morning, May 13, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 14, at 6 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tony Ward officiating, and followed by visitation.
Family and friends are also being received at the home of Wanda and Martin Oates on Suttontown Road near Faison.
Burial will be Wednesday, May 15, at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Britt was a retired farmer.
He attended Manley Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church, and in past years he had been a volunteer with Suttontown Rescue Squad.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda B. and Martin Oates of Faison; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Vernon and Jennifer Britt, Jerry and Gina Britt and Keith and Christina Britt all of Mount Olive and Ryan Myers also of Mount Olive; six grandchildren, Michelle B. Hope and husband, Brian, Lydia Britt, Austin Britt, Sabrina Britt, Isaac Britt and Daniel Britt; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Hope and Naomi Stoneburner; and two sisters, Edna E. Sutton and husband, Odis, of Faison, and Frances B. Thornton of Mount Olive.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Shelvy Jean Waters Britt Perry; a grandson, Andrew Britt; and his parents, Theodore R. and Ludy Jernigan Britt.
