The Rev. John Earl Dockery was born Oct. 9, 1933, in Lumberton, N.C., to the late James "Jay" and Mary Frances Dockery. He transitioned from labor to reward Friday, March 22, 2013.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Annie Dockery; three children; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at New St. John AME Church, 1307 S. Slocumb St., Goldsboro, N.C.
Funeral services will be held Friday at noon at McCormicks Chapel AME Church, 215 S. Main St., Lumberton, N.C. Interment will be held at Elizabeth Heights Cemetery following the services.
