VIRGINIA M. WARD

Mary Virginia Moore Ward, 96, passed away Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Virginia was born in Vidalia, Ga., Nov. 7, 1916, to the late William Dee Moore and Mary Gross Moore.
She was married to the late Benjamin Kirby Ward Jr.
Virginia was a wonderful homemaker, a loving wife and mother and proud grandmother.
She was an active member of her beloved St. Paul United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and Unity Circle. Virginia served as a Sunday school teacher, a Bible study leader and a member of the altar guild. She was a woman of great faith in God, and truly had a servant's heart.
Virginia was the adopted grandmother of Girl Scout Troop No. 623.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Phyllis Vail officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Debbie Hughes and husband, Rick, of Goldsboro; her sons, Dr. Ben Ward and wife, Starr, of Florence, S.C., and Larry Ward of Norfolk, Va.; and her grandchildren, David Ward and wife, Angie, Karen Glenny and husband, Jeff, Will Hughes and Ginny Hughes.
She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her brothers, William Merrette Moore and Robert Carlyle Moore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, or Young Life Campership Fund, P.O. Box 1702, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other time at the home of Rick and Debbie Hughes, 102 Lakeshore Court, Goldsboro, N.C.
