ZELDA "GREY" CARR

WASHINGTON -- Zelda "Grey" Carr, Washington, N.C., died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, N.C.
She was born April 2, 1930, in Wayne County, N.C., daughter of the late Nathan Potter and Seany Phillips Potter, and was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Hugh Carr.
Grey graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in 1951, and attended First Church of Christ in Washington, N.C.
She was a lifetime honorary member of the Boiling Springs Lake Garden Club.
During her husband's employment with Babcock and Wilcox, she had the opportunity to live on Batam Island, Indonesia, and travel extensively in Southeast Asia.
She was a proud grandmother, loving mother and beloved wife.
She is survived by her daughters, Patrice Adale Carr of Wilmington and Gail Greer and husband, Andy, of Washington, N.C.; son, Victor Carr and wife, Delinda Carr; grandchildren, Tony Talman, Anthony Greer and fianceé, Lauren Kennedy, Wells Gray, Vic Carr and Brynn Johnson and husband, Harley; sisters, Hilda Smith, Lillie Best and Frances Potter; brothers, Malcolm Potter and Gayle Potter; sisters-in-law, Nez Carr and Jenny Melton; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, by the Rev. Sam Hill. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Tony Talman, Anthony Greer, Wells Gray, Vic Carr, Rhet Potter and David Bridges. Honorary pallbearer will be Charles Galloway.
