SHARON LEE SMITH

KINSTON -- Sharon Lee Smith, 66, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 125 S. John St., Goldsboro, with Dr. Glenn Phillips and the Rev. Chuck Towery officiating. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park in Clayton.
Sharon was born in Durham County on Dec. 25, 1945, to the late Folden Williford Lee and Ruby Thrower Lee. She had worked as an administrative assistant for Barton College and East Carolina University. Sharon was a member of First Baptist Church in Kinston and the National Peer Helpers Association. She was the kindest and most loving wife, mother and grandmother and a great friend to everyone. Most importantly she was devoted to her family. She had a special talent for designing and crafting clothing for her grandchildren. Also, she enjoyed watching her sons and grandchildren's ball games and her granddaughter's dance performances. Sharon will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 45 years, Lannis Smith; sons, Gene Smith and wife, Jessica, of Pikeville; Scott Smith of Kinston and Jon Smith and wife, Kesha, of Rock Ridge; sister, Vickie Beasley and husband, Mac, of Clayton; brothers, F.W. Lee Jr. and wife, Rose, of Selma, Husel Lee and wife, Linda, of Clayton and Mike Lee and wife, Sue, of Clayton; and her grandchildren, Kayleigh Smith, Keenan Smith and Bowman Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roger Lee and Yarborough Lee.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Sharon's memory to the MeFine Foundation, 5100 US Hwy. 70 East, Princeton, NC 27569.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Jessica Smith, 105 Edgebrook Drive, Pikeville.
