MOUNT OLIVE -- Ruth Lindsay Fields, 91, Thunder Swamp community, passed away early Friday morning, Dec. 7, at Mount Olive Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Fields, widow of Thurman Benjamin Fields, had been a longtime member of Thunder Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She was the daughter of the late Addest L. and Mary Margie Baggett Lindsay.
Services to celebrate her homegoing will be held at Tyndall Funeral Home Saturday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Vance Harrell officiating. Entombment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Visitation will be at the funeral home immediately after the service, and at other times at the home.
Mrs. Fields is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay Fields Harrell and Gordon Harrell of Mount Olive and Gail Fields Jones and husband, George Jones, of Whitakers; three grandchildren, Sharon Harrell Willoughby and husband, Roy, Wendy Brewer and Teresa Brewer Grantham and husband, Brook; four stepgrandchildren, Amy Shafter, Shannon Shoeman, Heather Jones and Kim Jones; four great-grandchildren, Rebecca Whitley, Lindsay Smith, Taylor Adams and Kayla Grantham; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Faye Lindsay of Kinston, Donald and Audrey Lindsay of Waynesboro, Va., Ronald and Carol Lindsay of San Jose, Calif., and Carroll and Brenda Lindsay of Virginia Beach, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Brittney Nicole Thornton; a brother, Elwood Lindsay; and two sisters, Helen Lindsay Sutton and Joyce Lindsay Hooks.
