GREENVILLE -- Rhonda Jo Gurley, 56, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held today, Nov. 25, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Claude T. Nethercutt officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Rhonda was born in Wayne County on April 4, 1956, to Grace Bartlett Gurley and the late Morris Cellars Gurley. Rhonda was a retired police officer for the East Carolina University Public Safety Office.
In addition to her mother, Rhonda is survived by her sister, Marcie Dawson and husband, Rodney, of Seven Springs; brother, Durand Gurley and wife, Jamie, of Rosewood; nieces, Stacie Dawson and Kendall Gurley; nephews, Rodney Dawson Jr. and wife, Lisa, and Brantley Gurley; great-nephews, James and William Dawson; special K-9 companion, Dino; and a host of other close family and friends.
The family will receive friends today, Nov. 25, 2012, from 1 until 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Durand and Jamie Gurley, 287 Oakland Church Road.
