BLANEY W. HILL

Blaney Woodrow Hill, 81, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, passed away early Saturday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A service to celebrate the long, well lived life of Blaney Hill will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Victory Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Fred Crank officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. Family members will greet friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

He was born in Greene County to the late Grimsley and Lucy Taylor Hill and was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Blaney retired from Sears after 35 years as a salesman in major appliances. He continued his career with landscaping, enjoying many hours on his tractor while bush hogging. He was a faithful member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church and above all else he loved his God, his family and his church.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl Biggs Hill; his children and their spouses, Jeffrey Blaney Hill, Sr. and wife, Phyllis, of Goldsboro, Durwood Hill of Pittsburgh, Pa., Karen Hill Brown and husband, George, of Rocky Point, Hope Hill Gibson and husband, Greg, of Hampstead; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Amy Hill Miller and husband, Brent, Holly Hill Bishop and husband, Matt, Jeffrey Blaney Hill Jr., Morgan Brown, George Brown III, Parker Brown, Blane Gibson, Beau Gibson and Pfeifer Hill; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Miller and Hadley Bishop; and one sister, Winnie Grace Gwaltney of Morehead City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Victory Free Will Baptist Church, 1806 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
