Helen Marie O'Connell, 98, passed away at home on Sunday evening, Oct. 14, 2012.
A graveside service was held Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at 4 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Father Patrick Keane officiated.
Helen was born in New York City and lived on Long Island until she moved to Goldsboro at the beginning of 1991. She was married to the late Joseph Vincent O'Connell for 50 years until his death in 1991.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia, and son, Thomas (Ret. NYPD) and daughter-in-law Joanne; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Evelyn Fisher, and nieces and nephews, and her church family at St. Mary Catholic Church.
The family was served by Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
