William Dean Hammond, 61, passed away on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at his home.
A service of remembrance will be held at noon on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Deacon Webster James presiding. The family will receive friends today, Sept. 23, 2012, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
Bil was born in Richmond, Virginia on Dec. 20, 1950, to the late Billie and Irma Dean Smith Hammond. He worked for 22 years with Waste Industries. Bil lived a life of dedication to his family and friends, and to his community. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and had a great love for St. Mary School. Bil was an avid supporter of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a member of the Rams Club. He enjoyed being at games with family and friends.
Bil is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pamela Scimeca Hammond; son, Josh Hammond and wife, Jenny, of Raleigh; daughter, Jordan Ann Hammond of Goldsboro; and the apple of his eye, his grandson, Will Hammond. He is also survived by his sisters, Susie Hammond of Warsaw, Va., and Dorellis H. Dunaway and husband, Wade of Warsaw, Va.; niece, Tallie Dunaway; nephews, Logan Dunaway and Daniel Evans; and two aunts and his uncle, Jerry Hammond and wife, Mary, of Nichols, S.C., and their daughter, Mindy Lane.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary School, 1100 N. Jefferson St., Goldsboro, NC 27534.
