CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Lynn David Johnson, 74, of Harrison, passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, from complications during a brief illness.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with ceremonies led by the Rev. Richard Barr and Sean Paul. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. today at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Hwy 153, Hixson.
A resident of the Chattanooga area most of his life, he was retired from the U.S. Air force with 20 years of service from 1955 until 1975. He was the owner and operator of Lynn's Sharpening Service for many years and was also the former owner of the Berkley Depot in Goldsboro. He loved hunting and fishing and in Louisiana he held the state record for Warsaw Grouper. He was of the Methodist faith and was the son of the late Hardy and Mary Ruth McClure Johnson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Johnson and an infant sister, Marguerite Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Marnell Gurley Johnson; two daughters, Terri "Susie" Cotter (Bobby), Ooltewah and Kimberly Krause (Sean Paul), Chattanooga; two sons, Dean Johnson, Harrison and Jerry Johnson (Pam), Hixson; five grandchildren, Beth Cotter, Ashley Johnson, Jericka Holcomb (Matthew), Courtney Johnson and Dylan Cotter; one great-granddaughter, Lanee Cotter; three sisters, Sylvia Johnson, Donna McCallister and Judy Gilreath.
