HOWARD B. WEST

Howard B. West, of the Belfast Community, died Thursday with his family by his side.
Graveside services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Highway 70 West, with the Rev. Bill Cotton and Elder John Hess. The family received friends following the service and other times at the residence.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Betty Bartlett West; two daughters, Sharon West Carter (Clifton) of Belfast and Peggy West Kennedy (Durwood) of Goldsboro; son, Bayron West of Hendersonville; sisters, Margie West Parks of Goldsboro and Julia West Owens of Kinston; brother, Carey West (Hilda) of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Kevin Carter (Jody), Scott Carter, Durwood R. "Ken" Kennedy Jr. and Darryl Kennedy (Marian); and great-grandchild, Alice M. Kennedy.
He was born in the Faro community to the late Olivia Yelverton West and Walter Barden West and was preceded in death by his siblings, Ben West, William Grant West, Simeral West, Walter Whitted West and Harry Drexel West. Mr. West retired as warehouse manger from Coke-Cola Bottling Co. with 33 years of service.
The family requested memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.
