FREMONT -- Dorsey Ernest Poole III, 51, passed away suddenly on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, in Brunswick County while vacationing with his family.
Memorial services will be held today, Aug. 5, 2012, at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Drew Clark officiating.
Dorsey was born in Wake County on Nov. 25, 1960, to Dorsey E. Poole II and the late Jeanette Clark Poole. He was a graduate of Needham Broughton High School, Class of 1979. Dorsey went on to pursue a degree in business from North Carolina State University and graduated in 1984. D, as he was known to his family and friends, was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was an insurance agent, most recently with Aflac. He was passionate about N.C. State athletics, but his true love was his family.
In addition to his father, Dorsey is survived by his wife, Abby Foster Poole; daughter, Madison Poole of Fremont; sons, Andrew Poole and Zachery Poole, both of Raleigh; special cousins, Brenda and Wade Evans, Debra Bryan, Susie Cameron and Jimmy and Joan Clark; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Joanne Foster; sisters-in-law, Blair Rhodes, Jenny Ludmer and husband, Phil; brother-in-law, Jeb Foster and wife, Monika; and many special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service this afternoon at First Presbyterian Church.
