RANDALL ALBERTSON

MOUNT OLIVE -- Randall Albertson, 77, passed away Monday morning, July 30, 2012, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at Tyndall Funeral Home Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Frank Turner officiating. Interment will be at Wayne Memorial Park following the service.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, July 31, from 7 to 9 p.m., and other times at the residence at 322 Smith Chapel Road.
Randall was a native of Beulaville, and was a graduate of Beulaville High School.
He was a longtime resident of the Blizzard's Crossroads area of Duplin County.
A charter member of Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department, he was a member of Garner's Chapel Baptist Church, having served as a deacon and choir member. He served on various committees of the church and most recently as chairman of the building committee.
Randall retired in 1991 after 38 years of service to E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Co. in Kinston. The majority of his career he served as a maintenance supervisor, and the last eight years he served in the DuPont Technology Transfer Global Division.
Randall served in the North Carolina National Guard for 40 years and five months, serving locally, nationally and in Southeast Asia, retiring with the rank of CWO4.
Randall's life revolved around people. He was appointed and served on the Governor's Beautification Council, which covers a six-county area for the North Carolina Department of Transportation and its roadside environmental program.
He was a former board member of Duplin County Leadership Development Center; a former member of Citizen's Advisory Committee, concentrating on the environment and health issues with representatives of the pork industry in Duplin County; and formerly had served as a member of H.E.L.P. with the Duplin Health Department.
Most recently, Randall served as the curator of the Duplin County Veterans Museum in Warsaw.
Randall was an inventor of sorts, having developed a safety step for trucks, an electric tent peg driver and a roadside feather and liter vacuum.
He was known for his mechanical ability, and was the local lawnmower and small engine repairman.
He enjoyed playing golf, especially the fellowship with his fellow golfers.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Annie Bruce Grady Albertson; two daughters, June Albertson Waller and husband, Derald Smith, of Goldsboro and Joan Albertson Page of Edmond, Okla.; three grandchildren, Chris Waller and wife, Robin, Evan Page and Kendall Page; a great-grandson, Wyatt Waller; and two sisters, Phyllis A. Rouse of Beulaville and Patsy A. Smith and husband, Ray, of Beulaville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward Albertson and Virginia Dare Dail Albertson, and a brother, Ronald Dail Albertson.
