Edward Lewis Gooding, 78, went to be with his heavenly father Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Ed was the widower of Hilda Toler Gooding.
He was retired from Kemp Furniture.
Ed was a member of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, and had served his country proudly in the United States Army.
A service to celebrate Ed's life will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Williams, the Rev. Billy Toler and the Rev. Tom Dorman officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Surviving are his sons, Robert Gooding and wife, Livvie, of Wilson and Billy Gooding and wife, Dianne, of Fremont; grandchildren, Brad Gooding and wife, Joanna, Amy Capps and husband, Jason, Krystal McArthur and husband, Bobby, and Tiffany Gooding; great-grandchildren, Emma Nooe, Caleb Gooding, Emily Capps, Noah McArthur, Summer Gooding and Alex Bailey; brothers, Herman Lee Fields and Linwood Fields of Dudley; sisters-in-law, Linda Lancaster of Patetown and LaRose Williford and husband, Ray, of Raleigh; brother-in-law, the Rev. Billy Toler and wife, Zulma, of Pink Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
