HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Funeral services for J. Bryan "J.B." Rhodes, 86, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Danny Winburn will officiate, with entombment in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 7, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Journey Baptist Church Building Fund, 937 E. Old Camden Highway, Hartsville, S.C., 29550.
Mr. Rhodes died Monday, June 4, 2012.
Born in Chesterfield County, S.C., he was the son of the late Barney and Mary Johnson Rhodes.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was retired from Sonoco Products Co. with 39 years of service.
He was a charter member of Journey Baptist Church, and was also a member of the Old Timers Club, Hartsville Masonic Lodge No. 173, Loyal Order of the Moose and DAV.
He received the Pilgrim award from the Moose.
He loved his family, his church, boating, fishing, travel and the McDonald Breakfast Club
Surviving are his wife, Eunice Davis Rhodes of Hartsville, S.C.; daughter, Linda Rhodes Dixon of Hartsville, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Mary Braswell of Hartsville, S.C.; grandchildren, Tracie (Harold) Jacobs, Danielle Braswell and Kendell Braswell; and great-grandchildren, Brittany Jacobs, Emily Jacobs, Bryan Jacobs.
