LINWOOD EARL "CREECH" GRIMES

FREMONT -- Linwood Earl "Creech" Grimes, 84, passed away Saturday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Mr. Grimes was born in Lenoir County June 22, 1927, to the late Malcolm and Lossie Potter Grimes.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Creech is survived by two sons, Lynwood Earl Grimes Jr. and wife, Diane, of Swansboro and Danny Grimes and wife, Nell, of Kenly; two daughters, Brenda Mayo and husband, Danny Alton, of Lucama and Anne Smith and husband, Mark, of Kenly; two brothers, Billy Ray Grimes of Fremont and Kenneth Grimes and wife, Frances, of Stantonsburg; a sister, Ava Lane of Goldsboro; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
