LAURA JEAN BEST FIELDS "MEMA"

Laura Jean Best Fields, 64, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Dr. Glenn Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home of her daughter, Dora and Bobby Smith at 640 Charlie Braswell Road in the Rosewood Community.
Laura was born in Wayne County on Jan. 16, 1948, to the late James Edgar Best and Annie Howell Best. She worked as a saleswoman for many years with Electrolux. Laura's primary goal was the happiness and security of her family and could often be found spending time with them. She will be remembered as loving and caring mother, grandmother and sister. She cherished every moment she spent with her grandchildren.
Laura is survived by her special friend of 22 years and caregiver, Gary Knotts, of Goldsboro; her daughters, Jammie Trout and husband, Mike, of Goldsboro, Dora Smith and husband, Bobby, of Goldsboro, Barbie Gurley and husband, John, of Goldsboro; her son-in-law, Jeremy D. Gmytruk of Goldsboro; her sister, Molly Breedlove and husband, John, of Goldsboro; her brothers, David Best of Chapel Hill and Jack Best of Beaufort; and her beloved grandchildren, Derrick Fisher, Elizabeth Vargas, Reuben Martinez Jr., Michael Trout, Tabitha Colgan, Kathryn Smith, Allan Smith, Chris Gurley, Jordan Gurley, Ricky Baker and Candice Gmytruk, and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann Gmytruk, her step-mother, Tabitha Best, and her brother, Eddie Best.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute Development Department, Forbes Tower, Suite 8084, 3600 Forbes Avenue at Meyran Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
