Helen Louisa Doner Ritko, 86, finished her journey on Earth and stepped into eternity with God on Feb. 17, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Beloved wife of the late Lt. Col. Joseph James Ritko, Helen is survived by her children George Ritko (Lisa) of Goldsboro, Robert Ritko (Anne) of Richmond, Va., Sandra Larsen (Bill) of Charlotte, and Catherine Campana (Rick) of Cherry Hill, N.J. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Jennifer Frank (Jason), Stephen Larsen (Heather), Karen Cain (Greg), Meredith Ritko, Michael Ritko, Danielle Horner (Kyle), Jonathan Campana, and Matthew Campana, and her great-grandchildren Sydney and Carson Frank, Logan and Abigail Cain, and Jacob Horner.
Helen was born in Timmons, Ontario, Canada, to the late George and Eve Hawley Doner. An Army wife, she lived worldwide before retiring to Satellite Beach, Fla. Helen was fiercely devoted to her family and friends and will be fondly remembered for her unconditional love, generosity, adventurous spirit, easy laugh, busy hands, and a multitude of home-made cookies.
