DOROTHY L. MCKEMIE

Dorothy Louise Lassiter McKemie, 85, passed away early Saturday morning, October 8, 2011 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Dorothy was born in Edgecombe County on May 22, 1926. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Dorothy's primary goal was the happiness and security of her family and for that reason she made her home a beautiful place.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 10, 2011 at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Fred Clarke officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Tami M. West and husband, David of Pikeville; her sons, Tom McKemie and wife, Babette of Raleigh and Patrick McKemie, all of Raleigh; her sister, Camilla Jane Sutton of Newton; and four grandchildren, Ryan Miller and wife Jamie, Kayla West, Corbin McKemie and Christian McKemie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A.E. McKemie; and her siblings, George, Penelope, Patricia, Carolyn and Marjorie.
The family will receive friends Monday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
