MALINDA BLANTON

LOUISBURG -- Malinda Blanton, 41, Louisburg, N.C., went to be with her Lord and savior Aug. 21, 2011, following a long illness.
She is survived by her parents, William and Gloria Blanton of Youngsville.
Malinda, previously of Goldsboro, was a member of Love Memorial Baptist Church.
She was a past member of Dudley Volunteer Fire Department ladies auxiliary, where she came in second place for fire princess.
She was also a 1989 graduate of Southern Wayne High School. She enjoyed going to school, and her favorite teachers were Patricia Turnage and Jerry Whaley of Dudley.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Woodlief officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Walters of Wake Forest; two nieces, Laura Ray of Pilot and Ashley Blanton of Youngsville; her grandmother, Cecile Blanton of Goldsboro; a special aunt, Katie Brogden; and special cousin, Theresa Brogden.
Malinda was preceded in death by her grandfather, William C. Blanton.
