Rolin Franklin Pierce Sr., 103 E. Parks Road, Goldsboro, was born Oct. 20, 1939, in Columbus County to the late Grady and Addie Pierce. He was called home to be with our creator Monday, July 18, 2011.

He grew up and attended schools in Whiteville, N.C., and attended A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C.

He later moved to Bridgeport, Conn., for many years before moving back to North Carolina.

Family meant so much to our beloved Franklin. He showed compassion to everyone and had a pleasing personality.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Christine Pierce of the home; four daughters, Robin Pierce, Robina P. Thomas of Bridgeport, Conn., Mary "Liz" Warren of Wendell, N.C., and Tonya Shank of Charlotte, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Cynthia (Clinton) Marshall of Goldsboro, N.C., and Betty Williams of Goldsboro, N.C.; three sons, Rolando Pierce, Rolin Pierce Jr. and Mark Campbell of Bridgeport, Conn.; three stepsons, Ardell Bryant III of Enfield, N.C., Samuel Bryant Jr. of Southhills, Va., and Ricky (Mary) Bryant of Goldsboro, N.C.; three brothers, Hewlee Pierce of Bridgeport, Conn., Arnold (Margery) Pierce of Whiteville, N.C., and George Edward (Sandra) Smith; three sisters, Bethenia (Lee) Taylor of Maryland, Eva Mae (William) Bell of Jacksonville, Ark., and Linda Jackson of Maryland; 33 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Richard Faison of Whiteville, N.C.; a special nephew, Donnell Pierce of Whiteville, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Bible Faith Missionary Baptist Church. After which, Mr. Pierce, along with his adored family, will be escorted to Wayne Memorial Park for interment rites.

Mr. Pierce is peacefully resting at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home, where his family is receiving prestigious service.
