FRANKLIN NEAL SUMMERLIN

Franklin Neal Summerlin passed away Wednesday at Willow Creek Nursing and Rehab Center.
A private funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Princeton Cemetery, 212 E. Dr. Donnell H. Jones Jr. Road in Princeton, with Jackie Elwart officiating.
Surviving are his sisters, Juanita S. Butts of Kinston and Joyce S. "Tootsie" Vinson of Atlantic Beach; brothers, David C. Summerlin Sr. (Mary) of Durham, Gene Summerlin (Beverly) of Goldsboro and George Summerlin (Connie) of Atlantic Beach; 19 nieces and nephews; and 30 great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was the second child of Sallie Neal and David Conard Summerlin, who preceded him in death, as well as his wife, Alice "Pug" Andrews Summerlin; a sister, Ellen Summerlin Smith; and brothers-in-law, James Smith, Fred Butts and George Vinson Sr.
He graduated from Goldsboro High School class of 1942.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II from November 1943 through May 1946.
He completed further education at Auto-Diesel College in Nashville, Tenn.
He was manager of McLellan's Stores, working in several different states.
Later he was employed by Sears Roebuck in Atlanta, Ga., where he retired.
