THOMAS GRADY WEST

FREMONT -- Thomas Grady West, 69, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Tom was born in Wayne County Jan. 3, 1942, to the late Waitus and Nancy Yelverton West.
Tom retired as the tax collector for the county of Wayne after 21 years of service.
He had been an active member of Salem United Methodist Church, and enjoyed his civic responsibilities as a member of Fremont Rotary Club.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. Interment will be Thursday, June 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Tom is survived by his sister-in-law, Audrey H. West; his nephews, Brad West and wife, Lynn, and Craig West and wife, Nell, all of Fremont; and his great-niece and nephews, Ayden, Addison, Lee and Luke West.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry L. West.
The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of his sister-in-law, 1365 N.C. 222 East, Fremont.
