LAGRANGE -- Betty Jean Eason Thigpen, 61, LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011.
Betty was born March 5, 1950, in Lenoir County to Marjorie Grady Eason of LaGrange and the late Troy Edward Eason.
In 1980, Betty established B.J.'s Grill at Little Baltimore.
Betty enjoyed sharing her time and talents in her community, and was eager to help all community causes.
Betty enjoyed working with her hands, crochet, needlework and fishing.
A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held Friday, May 27, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alan Stocks and the Rev. Gerald Stacy officiating.
In addition to her mother, Betty is survived by her husband of 21 years, Darrell Thigpen; daughter, Sonia Gray of LaGrange; two grandchildren, De'Anna Gray and Daron Gray; brother, Troy Edward Eason Jr. and wife, Amy, and their children, Ty and Callie; two aunts and a uncle, Shelba and Dempsey Hill of Kinston and Sue Grady of Greenville; along with cousins, Megan, Miranda, Matthew and Jimmy.
The family will receive friends Friday following the service, and at other times they will be at the home.
